How to secure a container correctly

A safe move starts before the truck rolls. Match the container, carrier and securement plan to the actual weight, route and equipment.

• Confirm the container weight, payload, trailer capacity and balanced load distribution before loading.
• Use transport-rated chains, binders or tiedowns at suitable structural points. Check every component’s working load limit and condition.
• Block and brace the unit so it cannot shift forward, rearward or sideways. Protect securement from sharp edges and inspect all anchor points.
• Confirm overall height, width, route clearance, permits, flags, lighting and signage required for the move.
• Recheck the load shortly after departure and during the trip. The driver and carrier remain responsible for meeting all applicable securement rules.
